Australian Galleries – The Art Gallery of New South Wales

It is never a good idea to rush when you are visiting an art gallery because you never truly get the sense of wonder when you hurry, however I tend to have a real bad habit of putting time limits on my visits, which meant that on this visit I really did not get to experience all there is to offer. Maybe I should slow down a bit, but a part of me simply wants to cram so much into my days that I find it really difficult to metaphorically ‘smell the roses’. I’ve been here before, however the Art Gallery of New South Wales does have a lot of offer. … More Australian Galleries – The Art Gallery of New South Wales

Phuket Phenomena – A Night on the Town

I returned to my hotel for some down time, which basically involved sitting at my computer writing stuff (which was a part of my original plan, though after booking the tours that was going to be a little difficult). Anyway, it soon became apparent that I simply wasn’t going to be able to do that, namely because the Hard Rock Cafe (which was across the road) suddenly fired up and all that I could do was resist the pull that the music had to me, and that little voice saying ‘why the hell are you sitting in your hotel room when you could be out there having fun’. … More Phuket Phenomena – A Night on the Town

Singapore Story – A City of Gardens

Well if there is one reason to visit Singapore (that is if you aren’t a foodie like me) and that is to visit the gardens. In fact it is amazing that such a densely populated city state seems to have room not just for a few parks and gardens but for some huge ones. Okay, they did cheat when it came to the Gardens by the Bay because it is reclaimated land, however they are not the only gardens that Singapore boasts, and I did not have to time to visit all of them. Mind you, they don’t just plant gardens in the ground, but they also put them in the buildings as well. … More Singapore Story – A City of Gardens

Adam Road Presbyterian – Christianity in Singapore

One of the things that I love about travelling, especially overseas, is visiting churches. Mind you, I don’t just walk into any old church simply because you never know what you are what you are going to get or whether the church is actually Christian (and I have stepped into some shockers in my time … More Adam Road Presbyterian – Christianity in Singapore

Queensland Cutural Centre – Art and Science of Queensland

The thing that I thought was really handy in Brisbane is that they have the Museum, Art Gallery, and the major theatre all clustered together at the northern end of Southbank, which means that you can go and visit all of them in one day without having to wander all over the city. … More Queensland Cutural Centre – Art and Science of Queensland

St Andrews South Brisbane – A Friendly Queensland Church

I’m going to have to say that this is my home church whenever I go to Brisbane. Okay, I don’t go to Brisbane all that often, but whenever I do (a grand total of four times) I have always paid this church a visit and my experience has always been the same, which is probably why I keep on coming back (to this church, not Brisbane – the last time I was in Brisbane was back in 2008). Anyway, I first heard about St Andrew’s South Brisbane through a friend from a church that I regularly attended in Adelaide, which was generally how you would find out about churches back in the day, simply because you never knew what you were going to get when you walk in through the door (and I have walked into some absolute shockers). Actually, I don’t mind wandering into random churches because, depending on the church, you can have some very interesting experiences, but I must say that every time I have come here the experience has always been wonderful. … More St Andrews South Brisbane – A Friendly Queensland Church
