Cliffs and Sand – The Eastern Beaches

The last time I was in Sydney I went for a hike out into the Brisbane Waters National Park to search for some glyphs. This time I decided to keep my hiking activities somewhat closer to the city and chose to take the walk that stretches along the coastline between Coogee and Bondi Beaches. … More Cliffs and Sand – The Eastern Beaches

The Remoteness of Perth

There are certainly places on the Earth that are much, much more remote than Perth, such as the poles of inaccessibility (if you simply want to get away from pretty much everybody, though you will find yourself either floating in the middle of the Pacific Ocean over the legendary home of Cthulu, or in the middle of the Antarctic). As for inhabited locations, there is always Tristan da Cuhna, which is supposed to be the most remote inhabited island in the world. … More The Remoteness of Perth

Antwerp or Anvers

There was a movie that I saw back in the 90s where the opening was set in Antwerp. There was a group of conservative Jews with their black hats, black suits, long beards, and those cool curley bits down the side, walking into what appeared to be a diamond shop. They were buzzed in, and walked into the room, and all of the sudden the guns were out and they were screaming for everybody to get down on the floor. … More Antwerp or Anvers

A Week Long Pub Crawl – Good Beer Week pt 2

It is time to continue with the second leg of what was in effect a monumental pub crawl. Okay, it isn’t necessarily the longest, particularly since you could say that I went on a seven week pub crawl across Europe, but that is another story for another time. Instead we are traveling through the various pubs that I visited during Good Beer Week in May 2017, and the experiences that I underwent, which generally involved drinking some good, and some not so good, craft beers. … More A Week Long Pub Crawl – Good Beer Week pt 2

Back to the Fringe

Actually, I’m not all that sure what possessed me to go back to Adelaide a second time for the purpose of visiting the Fringe because, in the end, I didn’t actually do any real Fringe related activities. Okay, I did visit Gluttony and The Garden of Unearthly Delights, as well as wandering up and down Rundle Mall a couple of times, but I suddenly realised, as I was standing outside The Garden of Unearthly Delights on Thursday Night, that I didn’t actually have any huge desire to actually spend any money going to see a show – and isn’t that what the Fringe is all about? Seeing shows. … More Back to the Fringe

The Night is White

Isn’t it funny how, despite planning on having a quiet weekend at home, something comes along that ends up changing everything. In fact, a part of me is looking forward to a Saturday when I don’t have to step out of the house, though it does tend to come down to a point where I have to go out for a least a little while, even if it is down the street to the really dodgy pub that seems to only cater for gamblers and birthday parties (okay, it also has a bistro and a bottle shop, but the only place I can actually sit with some semblance of comfort is on the stool in the smokers cage outside of the pokies parlor). … More The Night is White
