An Abbotsford Pub Crawl

I realised that I haven’t done a good old fashioned pub crawl in a very, very long time. Okay, maybe I should be writing about the one I did in London where I attempted to visit every street on the Monopoly Board, and have a drink at a pub there. However, I am just going back to good old Melbourne, and taking you all on a trip to some of my favourite pubs in Abbotsford, which happens to be one of the inner city suburbs. … More An Abbotsford Pub Crawl

A Week Long Pub Crawl – Good Beer Week pt 2

It is time to continue with the second leg of what was in effect a monumental pub crawl. Okay, it isn’t necessarily the longest, particularly since you could say that I went on a seven week pub crawl across Europe, but that is another story for another time. Instead we are traveling through the various pubs that I visited during Good Beer Week in May 2017, and the experiences that I underwent, which generally involved drinking some good, and some not so good, craft beers. … More A Week Long Pub Crawl – Good Beer Week pt 2

Paddington – The Inner East

I’m not really sure why it is I feel that I should write a post on Paddington since I haven’t wandered around here a huge number of times, but then a part of me is determined to have a beer at least at one of each of the pubs that I have found around here (though I haven’t managed that to date, namely because I get to a point where I simply say that I have had enough, jump on a bus, and head back to my hotel). Well, at least I have had a drink at the Unicorn, since when I last walked past it had closed down. … More Paddington – The Inner East

Norwood – The Inner East with a Bit of Class

It was Christmas Eve and since I had finished work early I grabbed an old friend and decided to go and explore the suburbs to the east of Adelaide, especially since it had been quite a while since I had ventured down this way (and that there were a number of pubs that I also wished to visit, and catalogue). Being daylight saving (and the middle of summer – well not really, but Christmas is supposed to be on the summer solstice, at least here in Australia) it mean that we were going to have a lot more time, or at least daylight, to be able to explore. Unfortunately there doesn’t happen to be any trains that head out this way (so no train videos unfortunately), but we were able to make most of our way by foot, at least for the most part – we caught a bus to the first pub. … More Norwood – The Inner East with a Bit of Class

12 pubs (but skipping the 12 pints) – Adelaide’s Golden Mile

I’m sure many of us have heard of the final instalment of Edgar Wright’s Cornetto Trilogy called ‘The World’s End’ in which a group of friends come together again to attempt to complete an epic pub crawl in their home town which involves visiting twelve pubs and drinking twelve pints and concluding their night at a pub called ‘The World’s End’.

So, you may ask, how does this film relate to this particular post? Well, after watching this rather amusing story of five men’s attempt to complete was is called ‘The Golden Mile’ I remembered that Adelaide has a pub called ‘the World’s End’ (or more precisely ‘The Worldsend’) so one day I decided to try and work out how I could replicate the Golden Mile in the sleepy little town of Adelaide. … More 12 pubs (but skipping the 12 pints) – Adelaide’s Golden Mile
